David taking a break between events ... |
Linda: "We finished our wine tasting around 4:30 pm and our next event was booked for 7:30 pm. Fortunately both events were in Palermo Soho area. So we walked down Avenida Liberacion ...
.... So, what IS the next event?
... it is a night of learning about Argentinian Culture and how to make Empanadas, Alfajores and Mate.... But what is this all?
Empanada - is a stuffed bread or pastry baked or fried in many countries in Latin Europe, Latin America, the Southwestern United States, and parts of Southeast Asia
Alfajores - have a long-standing history in Argentina dating back to the 19th century. They are a huge part of the Argentinian culture and somewhat of a national cookie…and for good reason. Alfajores are made with two soft and crumbly cookies sandwiched around "dulce de leche" (caramel). Alfajores would be nothing without this traditional caramel filling, which is simply milk and sugar boiled down to its raw, creamy essence. Nothing beats the flavor of an alfajor with the right amount of "dulce de leche"!
"...wish I was there " |
.... all of us had to dress up as "chefs"....
Linda: "again different wines were continuously flowing through...." |
Last check.... Linda: "Janet and Ted's tender moment" |
Linda: My steak (1/2 kg!) was ¿ a punto ? which means "Medium" | ?! |
We learned how to make mate! According to local customs, mate is supposed to be shared between friends... |
